On August 20-21, several ICON members participated in the CHESS-PopHel Conference 2024. The conference was organised as a collaboration between Centre for Health Equity Studies (CHESS), Stockholm University and Helsinki Institute for Demography and Population Health (PopHel), Helsinki University.
Future directions of health equity research
During the conference, more than 40 research presentations were delivered. A variety of topics were represented, such as perspectives on health equity, trends in morbidity and mortality, crises and policies, maternal and child health, gentrification and segregation, income and wealth, genetic and social determinants of health, mental and behavioural health, childhood risk factors and well-being, and machine learning. We also had a workshop on the future of health equity research, with discussions on upcoming themes, collaborative efforts, and research infrastructure. The conference ended with the promise to have another conference hosted by PopHel in the near future.
