New project on offending among former child welfare clients

The Swedish Research Council for Health, Working Life and Welfare (Forte) has awarded a grant to Marie Berlin for the project “Criminality in former child welfare clients: continuity and change from adolescence to midlife”.

Together with colleagues Anna Kahlmeter and Bo Vinnerljung, Berlin will aim to further the understanding of why individuals with experience of out-of-home care engage in crime more frequently compared to peers without such experience. The project will also seek to identify possible turning points that reflect processes of desistance from crime.
